Discipleship through Stewardship

Welcome and thank you for your interest in supporting St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School. As Christian stewards, we receive God's gifts gratefully, cultivate them responsibly, share them generously with others, and return them with increase to the Lord. The gift of your time, talent and treasure will benefit each student and allow our community to grow and advance the educational experience.

Tuition alone does not cover the cost of educating our students, and St. Peter's is dependent upon the generosity of its donors to provide those extras that ensure the quality of virtually every aspect of school life - from the classrooms to the playing fields to the stage.

Support from alumni, parents, friends, students, faculty and staff affirms commitment to this community's mission, and makes it possible for us to provide the tools needed to educate our students. As partners, we are investing not just in education, but in the formation of our children by providing them with a living experience of the Gospel.

WAYS TO SUPPORT ST. PETER THE APOSTLE:

Volunteerism
When most people think of supporting a school, they think solely in terms of financial support. But at St. Peter's, we need your support in many ways that don't require you to write a check! We are always looking for volunteers to assist with various projects around school. From coaching a sports team, to handling the communications envelopes, to helping with Art classes, we have the job for you!

Annual St. Peter's Golf Tournament
Monday, September 20, 2010 at the Wilmington Island Club, 12 noon, Shotgun Start. Golf begins at noon with a bag lunch and beverages. Dinner will be held in the club following play. Golf is limited to the first 144 players at $100 per person, which includes cart, greens fees, lunch, dinner after play and the awards presentation. As usual, a number of exciting prizes will be available. If you would like to attend the dinner only, the cost is $25 per person. All proceeds benefit St. Peter the Apostle School. You can find an entry form on the St. Peter's Parish website.

School Auction
We invite you to join us for St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School's Annual Auction, April 2, 2011. Experience an evening full of fun, and support St. Peter's largest fundraising event. We are always looking for volunteers to help. If you are interested in helping with the event, please contact auction chairs: Angela & Roy Ogletree, Sharon & Bill Bell or Christy & Jay Burke.

GRACE Scholars
Georgia Residents Assisting Children's Education (G.R.A.C.E.) Scholars Inc. makes available scholarships for tuition to children from low to middle income families in grades K-12 for use at approved Catholic Schools located in the State of Georgia.

Both individual taxpayers and corporations can qualify for a tax credit by supporting G.R.A.C.E. Scholars Inc. Georgia tax liabilities up to $1000 for an individual and $2500 for a couple can be donated to a scholarship fund for students from low to middle income families. The amount of the donation, up to the stated levels, can be taken as a Georgia State tax credit. For more information, check G.R.A.C.E Scholars, Inc.

Annual Giving
The annual fund is the foundation of St. Peter's development program. Most donors begin their charitable giving relationship with the school through their support of the annual fund. Funds from annual giving provide operating monies that support the ongoing work at the school and help bridge the gap between tuition and the actual cost to educate a student.

Your gift to the annual fund helps St. Peter's continue its history and mission of providing a well-rounded, quality education in a Christ-centered atmosphere to families in our community. A successful annual fund drive helps keep tuition as affordable as possible for students and their families.

Endowment Giving
An endowed gift is a gift that keeps on giving - it provides the gift of a St. Peter's education for generations to come. The gift exists in perpetuity - it is the future of St. Peter the Apostle School and our students.

The endowment provides the second source of stable revenue for the school in addition to tuition and annual giving. St. Peter's is committed to building a strong endowment in order to continue to deliver greater value and attain higher levels of quality than would otherwise be possible.

What is an endowment? An endowment is funds set aside permanently so that only a portion of the earnings is used on an annual basis. An endowed gift is one in which the original principal is never touched, only a small percentage of the earnings are used for annual operating expenses or for the purpose the donor has specified, such as scholarships.

How does a stronger endowment help St. Peter's? An endowment links past, current and future generations by supporting and furthering our educational mission. A strong endowment provides financial stability for St. Peter's and helps us provide scholarships and financial aid to students who could otherwise not afford an education.

Memorial Gifts
St. Peter's receives many gifts in memory or honor of classmates, parents, alumni and friends. When a memorial gift is made, St. Peter's notifies the honoree's family member(s). Unless the memorial gift is designated to a particular need, it is allocated to annual support.

Bequests
One of the easiest ways to leave a substantial gift is by designating St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School as a beneficiary in your will. Bequests are the most common planned gift and may provide you with valuable estate tax savings.

Matching Gifts
A matching gift is an employer-sponsored program to encourage philanthropy among company employees in support of their chosen charity or organization. The matching gift program enables many donors to increase the impact of their contributions as most companies will match dollar for dollar, and some will double or triple match employee gifts.
Your human resources representative can tell you if your company has a matching gift program and can provide you with the necessary form, which you may complete, sign and send to the school.
